New Delhi. Gauging better production
prospects fropm rabi maize India has cancelled a tender for maize
export.The quantity in question was 2.4 lakh tonne.Before this move issue is
being raised regarding GM and non-GM maize. Notably,India does not permit to
grow GM crop except cotton,brinjal.The latest move is considered to avoid
import of contaminated maize.India
has secured 250,000 tonnes of corn from Ukraine so far.Companies like Agrocorp,
Concordia, Noble, Starcom and Daewoo International presented bids on Feb. 12 to
supply 240,000 tonnes of corn in the range of $194.62 and $221.50 per tonne.
